Our unique island is situated at the meeting place of two mighty African rivers, the Chobe and Zambezi, and four countries, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. This is the only place in the world where four countries meet. Impalila Island forms the north-eastern tip of Namibia and lies just 70km's west of Victoria Falls. The surrounding area is an amazing mosaic of waterways, floodplains and bushveld: host to exceptional birdlife, game viewing and assorted vegetation - and in the waters outstanding fishing opportunities.
Our lodges are situated in northeastern Namibia, within the Caprivi Strip bordering Zambia, Zimbabwe and Botswana. This core area falls within the newly proclaimed Transfrontier Park, which is a massive Peace Parks project aimed at linking the prolific game reserves in the various countries by way of conservation and community initiatives. Islands in Africa also forms part of the well established Five Rivers Safari which is a unique initiative in which 9 individually owned lodges provide a circuit, or various sub-circuits, interlinked with charter, road and river transfers, which encompasses Africa’s highlights – the Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls, the Chobe National Park and the Greater Zambezi Basin, as well as the Kalahari – to name a few. This has proved to be a progressive approach toward satisfying and staying abreast of the tourism industry trends.
