M13546 is known for extensive riding through an unusual variety of terrain. Trot along the cottonwood river bottoms and tall rangeland grasses or follow the red rock cliffs into a sand canyon draw up onto the high plateaus of the Wind River Indian Reservation. In contrast, lope across high mountain meadows lined with thick pine trees and abundant with wild flowers. Early or late in the season herds of elk and deer along with moose or coyotes may be seen.
In the town of Dubois there is a weekly square dance, a chance to visit the Big Horn Sheep Center and museum and time to browse the attractive western shops along the boardwalk. The property is shaded by the lush green cottonwoods along the East Fork of the Wind River. The contrasting red cliffs of the Wind River Indian Reservation make a unique ranch setting. The ranch continues to keep the authentic Western flavor of the old sheep and cattle ranch, originally settled by Scottish homesteaders in the 1890’s, in what has become known as Scotch Valley. Many of the cabins and parts of the main lodge and corrals are the original buildings M13546 is known for its extensive riding program, perhaps appreciated more by adults and older children, although the ranch has always catered to families which include younger children too.
