Established in 1967, Lookout Point Camp prides itself on being a non-commercialized retreat, gracefully situated on the northern tip of picturesque Gowganda Lake. Spanning thirty-six miles of rugged and unspoiled shoreline, our lake is nestled amid a junction of flowing lakes and rivers, ultimately feeding the mighty Montreal River watershed. With so much water at your disposal, finding a quiet spot to wet a line or lazily paddle a canoe is never a problem. From fishing and hunting to hiking and canoeing, Lookout Point Camp is pleased to offer a vacation package that is sure to meet each and every one of your needs. Come and see what you’ve been missing in a retreat! You’ll be glad you did.
FISHING- For those looking to land the "big one," Gowganda Lake is the place to be. With a multitude of bays, islands, rivers and points, the fishing possibilities are limitless, while the pressure remains extremely light. Try your luck at landing walleye up to twelve-pounds, smallmouth bass that can attain weights of six-pounds and northerns that tip the scales at eleven-pounds.
HUNTING- Gowganda Lake is the perfect backdrop for hunting enthusiasts, with our camp offering the choice of moose, ruffed grouse and waterfowl as adversaries. Lookout Point Camp is located in Wildlife Management area #40, a region that offers dense brush, open fields, back roads and plentiful watering holes - a mixture of hunting sceneries that will surely add to the exciting experience.
Our rustic camp consists of four waterfront cabins, all overlooking the splendid views of Gowganda Lake. Each cabin is meticulously maintained, ensuring the highest level of cleanliness that we have come to pride ourselves on. All amenities are provided for, making your "temporary" home a welcoming retreat that exudes relaxation and comfort to the utmost degree.
Choose from one of two, two bedroom cabins (sleeps four), one three bedroom (sleeps six), and a six bedroom (sleeps 12.) We have outfitted the three and six-bedroom cabins with an additional fridge for added convenience - both for store bought food and the fresh caught variety.
Each of our dwellings is constructed of breathtakingly beautiful wood - allowing our guests to truly experience what real cottage living is all about. With a cozy fireplace to warm your weary bones after a long day on the lake, a screened- in porch to savour that early morning coffee in or the spacious living room to relax with a good book, our cabins all provide a wonderful atmosphere for enjoying your stay.
Nearby attractions and activities:
There are plenty of activities to do around camp, those looking to spread their wings can enjoy a leisurely drive, with shopping, golfing, horseback riding, eateries and a zoo, all found within an hour from our home.
For those looking for adventure, logging roads are abundant throughout our area, offering the cyclist or ATV enthusiast miles of trails that are ripe for exploring. Many of these paths lead to back lakes or rapids, allowing photographic opportunities that will amaze and delight you.
