Observe and enjoy the unspoiled wilderness as a naturalist, sightseer and/or sports lover. Experience an abundance of wildlife; you will see a wide variety of migratory waterfowl, birds, resident sea otters, seals, eagles and possibly sea lions, bears and whales. Learn about the anthropology of the local Aleut Indians and geologic features of the Chugach Mountain Range with their snow-capped peaks and glaciations to 13,000 feet. For a naturalist the area is abundant with flora and fauna with a backdrop of breathtaking natural beauty.

Prince William Sound Lodge is located in Ellamar, on the shores of Virgin Bay and Tatitlek Narrows where sailing ships once moored. Wander through the historical past of a bygone era in a rustic turn of the century mining area. Explore ancient lush boreal rain forest with numerous varieties of wild flowers and vegetation along a network of hiking trails. Also provided is a comfortable classic 32 foot converted fishing vessel that enables you to closely explore the bays and inlets surrounding Ellamar.

Property amenities:
Situated at water’s edge, the PWS Lodge has the intimacy and comfort of a hand crafted private log home, majestic stone fireplace, oak floors and indoor bathroom facilities. Relax by the warmth of the fire and take in the panoramic view that offers you countless pleasures. After an adventure filled day enjoy a wonderfully relaxing sauna along with a feast of country gourmet-wilderness food at its finest.

The cabin sits directly on the beach with French doors that open to the waters of Prince William Sound. Inside you’ll find a comfortable queen-size bed along with a twin and a potbelly stove. Skylights bring in the light and warmth of the day. At night you can hear the ‘sea otters’ foraging on the reef just out the front door.

Prince William Sound Lodge Provides healthy home cooked meals served family style. Featuring fresh Alaskan seafood; depending on the season you may be able to sample salmon, halibut, shrimp and oysters.

Nearby attractions and activities:
Take a boat ride in Prince William Sound to Columbia Glacier, Shoop Glacier and Heather Island. Enjoy lunch on board as you float amongst the icebergs. Go ashore on Heather Island, view the glacier and walk along side the stranded icebergs. One will have to be careful not to disturb the multitudes of nesting shore birds that are underfoot. Listen to centuries-old icebergs crackle!

Explore Ellamar, a turn of the century mining town. Many old structures are still standing from the copper mining days. This area is rich in copper ore and is steeped in history because of this. By boat and on foot we can explore and photograph the weathered structures that are still standing along with other mines and sites near Ellamar.

Visit the native fishing village of Tatitlek where we can purchase fresh oysters. Continue on to Boulder and Landlock Bay that are back-dropped by the majestic Copper Mts. which rises 4000 vertical feet directly! Here we could possibly do a little fishing for rock fish.
