The house is located in the village of Pascoso,in the Apuane Regional Park, county of Pescaglia, province of Lucca (35 Km far).
In short, the house is made up of: 1 large kitchen with fireplace, 1 living room (with a sofa bed), 2 bedrooms (1 queen-bed room and 1 twin-bed room), 1 bathroom (shower), and 1 laundry (pantry) room.
The front door takes you into the hall, where there are the kitchen (on the left side), the living room (on the right) and the stairs, which leads to the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom.
The house is nestled on a hill, with three floors on one side and two on the other; therefore at the ground floor there is another room (with independent entrance) which is used for a laundry (washing-machine,dryer etc).
From the patio, you can go to the private garden (approximately 100 square meters), where there are a table, chairs, sun-umbrella, and BBQ.
The house is fully furnished with all new or antique pieces (Tuscan pieces from the 18th and 19th centuries). The kitchen is equipped with all the essential amenities: dishwasher, gas stove with four cooks tops, oven, microwave, refrigerator, freezer, etc.
We have provided a television (satellite), DVD, radio and CD player. Unfortunately, we have not yet installed a telephone (there is a public phone in town if you don't have a mobile), but telephone, computer, and internet access are available at our office (not more than 70 meters away).
Washing machine, dryer, iron and iron board are available in the loundry (pantry room).
A central heating system (oil-fired) has also been installed. And, naturally, a working fireplace adorns the kitchen, as how would a mountain house be complete without one!
Location & Nearby Attractions:
The houses are nestled in a small mountain town called Pascoso, in the Apuane Park, 2,231 feet above sea level. Pascoso, in the Tuscan province of Lucca, has just under 100 inhabitants and is so small, with such narrow stone roads, that cars enter town along a short strip of the main road only. Nearly all the houses in town are built in stone, including their rooftops, and the smooth stones of the streets were laid hundreds of years ago.
Not far from village(a 10- to 15-minute walk or 5-minute drive) is a charming little church on a tiny piazza, shaded in the summer by age-old trees. However, Pascoso is not far from the “cities of arts” of Tuscany: Lucca, Pisa, Florence and Siena are 15, 30, 60, and 95 miles away. And Forte dei Marmi and Viareggio, which are among the most famous Italian beaches, are only 30 miles far (approximately 45 minutes of driving)!Furthermore, the house is situated under an hours drive from many of Italy’s finest and most picturesque golf courses, such as Golf Alisea - 32km -30 mins (5 holes promotional golf course), Montecatini Golf Club - 37 km -35 mins (18 hole golf course of natural beauty that has been built in the hilly countryside.Golfers are faced with many natural hazards such as lakes, streams, forests, and ditches which are all formed from the natural contours of the land), Club Golf Montelupo - 40 km -40 mins, Tirrenia Golf Club (9 hole), Cosmopolitan Golf & Country Club (18 hole) and Golf Club Fontevivo (18 hole).
The road to Pascoso is the same as that which heads from Lucca to Abetone and Garfagnana. However, once you have reached Diecimo (roughly 15 km, or 9 miles from Lucca), take the detour to the left (asphalt road) and follow that road about 15 km (9 miles) further to Pascoso. Once there, the road (again, in asphalt) continues for another 8 to 10 km (5 to 6 miles), and ends at the foot of Mount Matanna (4,000 feet above sea level) where you will find breathtaking fields and a restaurant.
Traffic is almost unheard of in Pascoso. There are no nightclubs, bars, or other attractions of mass tourism. However, you will find that all the essential services are provided by the village's one store, which is run by a local family and sells everything to meet your daily needs, from fruits and vegetables, meat and bread to laundry detergent.
Next door to the store, the family runs an old style trattoria so welcoming in its genuine Tuscan hospitality, you’ll feel like a guest in their home. The dishes served are exclusively those typical of the region—wild game, delicious homemade pasta, Tuscan wines and cheeses and last, but certainly not least, homemade cakes and pies.
By car, you can also reach more refined, fine dining restaurants in the surrounding area.
Pascoso’s finest asset, and the most important reason to travel there, is the nature in which it is literally immersed. In many ways, the surrounding mountains and age-old trees are wild and untouched, the dense thickets grow untamed and the canyons, crossed by mule tracks, curl open to reveal sweet pastures where one can lie down in the soft, mountain sun.
Pascoso is a hiker’s paradise: you can walk all day long without meeting a soul and sleep overnight in one of the many shelters that dot the valley. Many of the mule paths are suitable for mountain bikes and horses, which you can rent in Pascoso.
For some hikes you might want to drive a few short minutes to your point of departure, whereas for others, you can leave directly on foot from your front door. And clearly, for visitors with off-road vehicles, the opportunities are endles
