Canoe & Brew. Join Jeff Brown, President of Boulder Beer Company (Colorado's 1st microbrewery), for a unique and educational look into the micro brewing beer industry and how it differs from macro breweries. The best part will be sampling various styles of beer and learning how they are made. Join us on the beautiful Gunnison River. After a day spent outdoors paddling and hiking, a cold beer around the campsite sure sounds great. Don't worry, we will keep the beer cold! Adults only.
Canoe & Rappel. Join Kris Hjelle and Jose Iglesias, owners of Colorado Alpine & Desert Adventures, for an exciting mixture of canoing and rappelling on the Gunnison River. This will be an ideal introduction into climbing and rappelling designed for beginners. Kris & Jose are world-class mountain climbers with impressive resumes wanting to share their love for the sport with others. Using anchored guide ropes, everyone will be in a safety harness. For those wishing to try it, we will do a controlled climb up a sandstone wall and then rappel down learning climbing techniques and safety practices. You may choose to spend your time hiking the canyon or relaxing by the river. Colorado Historical Society. Join CU Professor, Bill Convery, while exploring the canyons of the Colorado Plateau by canoe and discussing its history and geography. The region's first inhabitants, Spanish explorations, mineral booms and busts, farming and ranching, and twentieth century economic activities such as tourism and defense industries all contributed to this area. Explore how this combination of people, activities and environment helped create a distinct regional character and identity. There will be many fascinating western tales told around the campfire on this trip! Notes:
