Hooky Charters works hard to turn your Alaskan fishing trip into a catching trip. To do this we need to move to various different fishing areas. We like to start out fishing in May thru June 15th in Cook Inlet fishing for King Salmon and Halibut. From our years of experience we know the king salmon come in and follow the beaches up the Cook Inlet to find the river they came from some three to five, and sometimes seven years earlier. We know where the king salmon holding areas are and the best times to fish them as they travel up the beach.
We offer a guided Alaskan king salmon and halibut combo fishing trip so our clients can get more fishing for their money. We will troll along the beach for these King salmon that range in size from 20 pounds to 60 pounds! Then as the tide starts to slow down, we head out to proven halibut holes where we throw out the anchor and start catching halibut. Halibut can range from 10 pounds to over 200 pounds.
The bald eagles nest along the bluffs and can be seen from a boat in their nests and feeding on the beaches. There are hundreds of eagles both young and old, which makes for some great photos. The scenery is awesome. While trolling for king salmon or fishing for halibut you can see one or all of the four volcanoes that rise from the waters edge skyward. For those that don't like to fish in the more open salt water, we always have the option of fishing on the Alaska's world famous Kenai river for king salmon.
Clam digging is also good on the days where you have a minus tide, and for those who lodge with us, we provide clam shovels and a bucket with a quick lesson or instructions on how to use them.
Notes:
Half day guided fishing trips on the Kenai River are $125.00
Full day guided fishing trips on the Kenai River are $200.00
