The course harnesses the expertise of a marine scientist who is active in shark research and is a dive instructor. The scientist (Vic) will lecture on all the below-mentioned topics, as well as present a shark dissection, with samples of jaws, embryos, and skeletal parts.
Your qualification as an internationally recognised ‘Shark Awareness Diver’ concludes this exciting shark experience.
The Course will be held on site at the dive center and the marine scientist will stay eat and socialize with the group during the duration of the course. It’s a great opportunity to ask all sorts of questions (About marine life of course) and get it straight from the scientist’s mouth.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
To introduce divers to sharks in order to value, appreciate and enjoy diving with sharks by means of 6 hours of lectures with slides & videos, and 3 dives with ragged-tooth sharks.
OUTLINE:
All the following subjects will be reviewed with the support of an extensive set of unique and fascinating slides and videos:
1. shark evolution
2. myths and mysteries surrounding sharks
3. fears and phobias related to sharks
4. shark anatomy
5. shark senses
6. shark attack
7. comprehensive information about the ragged-tooth shark
8. information about the great white shark
9. sharks as top predators
10. shark behaviour
11. shark reproduction
12. safe diving practices whilst in shark inhabited waters or once a shark is encountered.
PRACTICAL:
3 dives with sharks. This can be assured from July to November each year, as the sharks' preferred areas on the Shoal are well-known through years of research and diving experience.
Each dive with the sharks has set objectives (over and above the improvement of diving skills):
1. sex and size determination
2. individual shark identification through natural marks/features
3. accurate recording of shark detail
4. identification, interpretation and recording of shark behaviour.

In order to increase our pool of qualified NITROX divers Quo Vadis Dive Charters will be offering courses for basically the cost of the course.
What does the course consist of?
The course consists of 2 dives, lectures and some video watching. This could all be concluded in one day.

The course includes the PADI NITROX crew pack, The Pic for certification, The 2 dives with NITROX fills.
