There is no variation of temperature below the surface due to the Gulf Stream which sustains a temperate average between 18° and 25° throughout the year. This results in a fish stock similar to that found in tropical waters.
Secondly, ours is the only diving base inside the Aquatic Nature Reserve where the fish are protected and therefore they not only survive longer but also have become more trusting.
Thirdly there is a reef measuring up to 34m in height quite near to our base, which forms a basin between itself and the shore. You can dive directly from the shore! Finally our overall service, hiring out of equipment, training and safety programme is exemplary.
The diving base is at the Galo Resort complex in Canico; about 40 minutes drive from Calheta. Arrangements can be made at the hotel reception for diving sessions and/or a training course.
