Spring fishing, from April 15th to May 31st, is by far the most productive period for catching a lot of salmon. Most fish caught are kelts, (wintered salmon) but, May also offers the best opportunity 'prime time' for landing a trophy bright Giant Atlantic Salmon, as pictured below.
The season opens April 15 the 15th and closes September the 30th. Prime time for catching GIANT Atlantic salmon is from May the 21st to May the 30th. Prime time for catch Kelts (wintered salmon) is late April to mid-May. June and July offer the best opportunities for bright salmon, August and September is the best Dry Fly fishing period.
