Every year, Brackendale hosts one of the largest populations of bald eagles in the world. In 1994 the highest concentration of bald eagles ever counted gathered here - over 3700. Starting in mid November and continuing through March these magnificent birds are here feeding on the salmon that spawn in the glacial fed Squamish and Cheakamus rivers. During this spectacular season Sunwolf Outdoor Centre provides the opportunity to view the eagles from a remarkable vantage point - the river.
Basic Eagle Float: Float in a safe, dry, stable river raft through the ecological reserves of the Cheakamus and Squamish rivers, silently viewing hundreds of these magnificent birds. From December to the end of February up to 1000 eagles can be seen during the two-hour float down the Cheakamus and Squamish Rivers. Afterwards, relax with homemade soup and bread by the fireplace.
Sleep With the Eagles: Start your adventure with the Basic Eagle Float and combine your raft trip with a night in one of our newly renovated riverside cabins on the Cheakamus River. Our cabins feature a thermostat controlled fireplace, hand crafted pine furniture and stunning views of soaring eagles against the backdrop of the glacier peaked Tantalus Range.
Liablility – It is important that participants realize that there are some inherent risks in outdoor activity. To acknowledge this assumption of risk, all participants will be required to read and sign a liability realease form prior to their trip.
