This rafting trip down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon impacts many levels of intellect and stimulates a wide range of emotions. Descriptive words fail and superlatives seem superfluous. We are grateful for the opportunity and ability we have to offer trips in this sacred place.
The trips in the Grand Canyon are much more than floating on the river and running the rapids. We spend a lot of time hiking the side canyons, increasing your opportunity to immerse yourself in and ponder this great natural wonder.
Our Grand Canyon schedule includes an eight day motorized trip using 35' pontoon rafts carrying up to 12 passengers each and running 280 miles from Lees Ferry to Diamond Creek, or South Cove/Lake Mead, and a fourteen day oar powered trip that covers the same portion of the river and utilizes 18' rafts being rowed by our guides and carrying 4 passengers each.
Two shorter oar powered options are available: the six day "upper" portion of the 14-day trip running 87 miles from Lees Ferry to Phantom Ranch or the nine-day "lower" portion of the 14-day trip running 193 miles from Phantom Ranch to Diamond Creek or South Cove/Lake Mead.
The six day "upper" trip option requires a strenuous 10-mile, 5000 vertical foot uphill hike out of the canyon. The nine-day "lower" trip option requires a strenuous 10-mile, 5000 vertical foot downhill hike into the canyon, both between the South Rim Village and Phantom Ranch. You need, at a minimum, to be in good general health and prepared for this hike if you choose the six or nine day trip.
* 14 day rowing and 8 day motorized trips
Participants will meet Marble Canyon Lodge the night before the river launch. At the end of your 14 or 8 day trip, a chartered motor coach will return you to Las Vegas.
* 6 Day Rowing trips
Participants will meet Marble Canyon Lodge the night before the river launch.
On the morning of the 6th day you will hike from Phantom Ranch to the South Rim. You will need to make your own accommodation arrangements on the South Rim for that night, and transportation arrangements for the following morning.
* 9 Day Rowing Trips
Participants will meet on the South Rim the night before the river launch. You will need to make your own accommodation arrangements for that night on the South Rim. You should begin your hike into the canyon early the following morning, to meet us at Phantom Ranch no later than noon. At the end of your 9 day trip, a chartered motor coach will return you to Las Vegas.
Notes:
Grand Canyon trips require participants to make their own transportation and accommodation arrangements at Marble Canyon at the beginning of the 14, 6 and 8 day trips, and to the South Rim for the 9 day trips. Transportation to Las Vegas at the end of the 14, 6 and 8 day trips is provided. Participants must make their own arrangements for accommodations at the South Rim following 6 day upper canyon trips, and preceeding 9 day lower canyon trips. 6 day upper canyon trip participants must also make their transportation arrangements to depart from the South Rim after their trip.
