Red Deer (Cervus Elaphus)
The most majestic of European game. Red Deer are native to Europe and closely resemble Elk.
The stag is around 1.5 meters tall and weighs approximately 130Kg, the hind is around 1.2 meters at the shoulder and weighs about 80 Kgs.
The stags have antlers, which they shed early in the spring. Rutting takes place from September to October. The calves, usually single, are born in the May of the following year.
The Red Deer hunting seasons is from the 1st of August until the 31st of December.
The best time to hunt for stags is August, September and October.
