PADI Open water Diver course consists of three segments: Confined Water, Knowledge Development and Open Water session.
PADI Open Water Diver course has been restructured and reformatted to reflect essential changes:
- The confined open water section is now before the knowledge development segment, to reinforce the dive first approach.
- Confined water dive one is now identical to the discover scuba diving water skill development session. This allows student divers to receive certification credit for the training and diving completed in the PADI discover scuba diving program.
- Open water dive one becomes primarily a "learning through experience" dive to excite and motivate student divers. The essential skills are needed for every dive performed by the student divers while diving versus formally "demonstrating skills".
Prerequisite:
To qualify for the Open Water Diver course, an individual must:
- Be at least 15 years old. Junior Diver must be 10 years old prior the start of the course.
Referral
Open Water Diver course participants may be referred after completion of any academic confined water or open water session. Open water diver student referral form is valid only 12 months.
