Often descried as the "most fun I've had being serious" this PADI program develops your knowledge and skills so you can effectively perform diver assists and rescues, manage diving accident situations and render First Aid. The program is an important step in expanding your knowledge and experience as a diver.
The course consists of 10 exercises in Open Water that culminates in 2 Rescue Scenarios combining the various exercises into realistic rescue scenarios. These are usually run over two days following a day of Knowledge Development and Pool work.
Exercises include: panicked diver on the surface, tired diver on the surface, distressed diver underwater, missing diver, surfacing the unconscious diver, egress with the unconscious diver etc. Prior to certification you will also need to have successfully completed the MEDIC FIRST AID program or a sanctioned program in CPR within the past two years.
PADI Rescue Diver certification is also a prerequisite for all PADI leadership programs.
PADI Rescue Diver Course is an important and crucial step in expanding a diver’s knowledge and experience beyond a purely recreational level. Rescue Divers learn to look beyond themselves to consider the safety and well being of other divers. This is why the Rescue Diver rating is a prerequisite for all PADI leadership training. This 4-5 days course readies the diver to help prevent problems and, if necessary, manage dive emergencies using a variety of techniques. The course is designed to be demanding, though realistic in its conduct, content and approach. Although the nature and context in which rescue training may be used is serious, the course is enjoyable and builds diver confidence.
* Assistant Instructor Course
The PADI Assistant Instructor Course is a four days comprehensive course, Advancing Divemaster towards becoming PADI Instructor. During the course, participants learn valuable skills in teaching dive theory and course academics to students, as well as learning how to conduct confined and Open Water training dives. Once again, participants expend on their professional-level knowledge of dive theory and investigate the application of theory into classroom practice. This course builds upon the participant’s abilities to organize and supervise dive activities while concentrating on developing teaching skill.
