Great White Sharks have always fascinated humans for various seasons. Perhaps it is their imposing size, their graceful beauty perfectly adapted to their environment, patrolling our oceans since the beginning of time. Their powerful predatory behavior instilling pure fear in our hearts, or perhaps it is the mysteries surrounding this spectacular shark that beckons us to come closer and closer. If you are one of those, who would like to come just that little bit closer, to experience the White Shark in its natural environment above or under water, this is just for you!
Mossel Bay is situated approx. 350 km from Cape Town along the world famous Garden Route and is known to have the most stable weather conditions in the country, providing us with many advantages. Mossel Bay is without a doubt one of the best White Shark sites in the World, albeit one of the lesser known.
Working around Seal Island (home to thousands of Cape Fur Seals), provides unique opportunities to observe “breaching” and attacks by Great Whites on Seals. Not only a spectacular sight, but an excellent occasion to film and photograph such an extraordinary event. The bay also plays host to large numbers of Whales in season June – Nov. The Whale numbers surpass even those of the famous territory of Hermanus. While on the subject of Marine mammals, schools of up to 500 Dolphins make a spectacular site and are often seen in the bay. As the only White Shark operation along the Garden route, we’re afforded the advantage of seals being our only competition for the shark’s attention.
The White Shark Africa staff and members have a proud history in white shark research, conservation and education so you can be sure that our hearts are in the right place. We welcome both divers and non-divers alike. No diving license or experience is necessary for the cage. All ages are welcome and one does not necessarily have to dive to be close to the sharks. The viewing experience is wonderful and the sharks often come very close to the boat.
We cater for film shoots, private charters and offer brilliant team building experiences. The ride to the island takes no more than 10 minutes from the harbor. Water temperature varies between 15 - 24C and visibility between 5-20 meters. Our Boat, “Shark Warrior” is a modern 11.5m long and 4m wide motor cat custom built for shark cage diving.

Price Includes:
- Buffet breakfast at launch site;
- Light lunch, snacks and refreshments on the boat. Please don’t eat foods with loads of fiber, figs or plums before going on a shark trip with us. The next client using the wet suit might not appreciate the result!
- Diving and Viewing;
- Wet suits and dive equipment is supplied and available in all sizes;
- Afternoon tea upon arrival back at the harbor;
- Certificate of your White Shark Experience;
Please don’t board our boat without:
- Sunscreen;
- Towel;
- Swim wear (if diving);
- Camera;
- Hat or cap;
- Warm jacket;
If you are prone to motion sickness. No train smash, just make sure you purge either before or after you get on or off our boat or take seasickness tablet the night before and again 2 hours prior to boarding the boat.
