Angelo Piller has been a flyfisher since 1986, he lives and works in Cortina d'Ampezzo. His strong passion for fly fishing has given him a good experience the northern Venetian region, Austrian and Alovenian rivers. Angelo Piller loves to tie his own flies: for seven years he has been a fly tier instructor at the Fly Fisher Club of Milan. Recently one of his flies has been published in the well known book: Tying Emergers! Angelo Piller has become Certified Flycasting Instructor EFFA and FFF too. Dolomite Fly Fishing - Northeastern Italy The Dolomite region is probably one of the best regions in Italy for fly fishing. The Dolomites are a section of the Alps. They are located for the most part in the province of Belluno, the rest in the provinces of Bolzano-Bozen and Trento (all in north-eastern Italy). The Piave River plays an important role for fly fishing marble trout and hybrid. In some pools there are nice grayling too. The Piave River (from Latin Plavis ) is a river in north Italy. It begins in the Alps and flows southeast for 220 km (135 miles) into the Adriatic Sea near the city of Venice. In Belluno, there is the possibility to catch with a dry fly trouts above 16 inches, and with a little luck and skill, even some in the 20 " range are not impossible. In Cortina d'Ampezzo the Boite river contains a good number of brown trout Stillwater flyfishing is done in the Spring and Summer on pristine and very scenic alpine lakes. The nearby region Alto Adige has a lot of good waters too! Piave River Fly Fishing If you are looking to catch a marble trout or an hybrid, Piave river is the right place for you! You've got a good chance to catch marble trout from 30cm to 60cm. Hybrids are half marble half brown trout! Spectacular "silver" brown trout from lake S.Caterina!
