The Portuguese island Madeira can be reached from most of the English airports by direct flight. Madeira is one of the eldest sites for holidays in Europe, especially for British people. Because of the golf stream the island offers e very moderate climate and a wonderful flora and fauna. The kind behavior of the Madeira people turn Madeira to one of the most visited and save tourism sites of the world!
Our new Dive Center at the Hotel Pestana Palms, open since 1st of May 2001, is situated next to the waterfront (about 10 m from the water), so our clients, at all times during Opening Hours can explore the under-water world. Boat trips to our dive spots are made twice a day. Leaving at 10am and 2pm directly in front of the Dive Center.
Our Dive Center is divided into five areas:
- Office- and instruction area, here we take care of our clients and hold theoretical instruction. For instruction we have the most modern equipment: Overhead Projector by Computer, Video and White-Board.
- Clients room, here the clients can leave their personal equipment during the dive holiday.
- Equipment-Room with workshop, here you can find our NITROX - Filling station and all the equipment for rent.
- The Wash and Dry room with a 500 l Sweetwater tank.
- Filling room, here you can find our powerful compressor (450 l/min.) and an air reserve of 90.000 bar-liters.
We propose for Rent:
- 50, 10 and 12l tanks in steel and aluminum
- 20 complete sets of equipment in various sizes for women and men, plus NITROX- and rebreather equipment
- 5 complete sets of equipment for children and teenagers with tanks of 4 and 7l
- Uwatec-Computer Aladin Sport and NITROX
- Sherwood and Scubapro regulators
- Drager Rebreather equipment
- Under-water photocamera
- Under-water lamps
- Signalbouy and signal rocket
Dive Spots - The diving areas within the underwater 'Nature Reserve' are the cleanest in Madeira, offering a wide diversity of marine life. They are all easily accessible and only minutes away by boat. Two times a day we go out by boat. We have a weekly dive plan that can change sometimes, depending on the weather. So you can decide for your self, what spot you want to visit.
There are so many interesting points to see that more than one dive will be necessary. This is a great opportunity for NITROX diving. Strewn around the ship are many parts, such as the vacuum head, chains and ripped off pipes. The boat is partly clear underneath enabling divers to swim under the belly.
The digger which is situated on the sand filled deck offers a home to various Moray Eels. At the forward end of the ship, two large Groupers have made a home. Depending on the weather, we dive at this location at least once a week. Experienced divers may also take part in a guided dive through the ships lower decks.
We also offer: Wreck, Night, Cave, Photo and Video Dives.
