* Diving in gulf of Aqaba: our Dive Center visits over 20 dive sites along the Jordanian coast. Aqaba's dive sites are all accessible as shore dives. The diving here is comparatively easy. There is usually no current or it is very minimal. The water is warm and the visibility generally exceeds 20 meters. There are no aggressive creatures. All sites start virtually at the waters edge and are easily accessed from the shore.

A fast road connects the access points to the dive sites and even the most distant sites near the Saudi border can be reached within 20 minutes and we offered boat dives also. Our Dive Center stresses the need to be an environmentally sensitive diver. As such you should maintain neutral buoyancy to avoid coming in contact with the reef. This is for your sake as well as the sensitive coral. Collecting items from the sea, whether living or dead, is also frowned upon.

Two dives a day is the norm, with night dives arranged several times a week. Divers leave from the dive center each morning and can return for lunch between dives or stay down on the reef edge at the beach. Special packages are available for groups of more than 4 divers.

* The dives: An on-site briefing, including site map, is provided before every dive. The dive time is 60 minutes or 50 bar whichever comes first. A safety stop is incorporated into each dive profile as a natural part of the dive. Where necessary, traditional Bedouin straw mats are laid down to allow you to set up your equipment without worrying about sand infiltration.

- A message from the Aqaba marina park: Aqaba boasts having hundreds of the coral and fish species creating a dizzying tapestry of colors and shapes. The complex vividness of our marina inheritance is juxtaposed against the stark beauty of the desert and mountains that melt into the blue waters of the gulf of aqaba. The need to safeguard this fragile wealth has led to the establishment of the aqaba marina park along the southern coast of the Jordanian gulf of aqaba.

A multi-use marina park has been created to preserve the near- shore marina environment for sustainable tourism development. Maintaining the health, resilience and integrity of the marine environment for the future enjoyment of Jordanians and visitor from all over the world is the primary responsibility of the marina park.

While the Aqaba marina park was established through the close co-operation of the aqaba special economic zone authority with the global environment facility, the world bank, USAID, and the national oceanic and atmospheric administration, to mention but a few sponsores and supporters.

The key to the success of the park are the visitors and in particular the residents of Aqaba. We at the Aqaba marina park, know that the back n-bone of the park is the local Aqaba community and are always looking for new ways to join forces and efforts to work together to ensure a healthy and thriving marina park.
