Vava'u is one of the northern group of islands that create the Kingdom of Tonga. An archipelago of limestone islands that create a beautiful backdrop to all views. The Tongan culture is one of the friendliest and most laid back societies you will ever see.
The deep blue waters that lie around the islands of Vava'u hold many magnificent and interesting animals.
Stunning healthy coral reefs, soft coral walls, swim throughs and caverns, we have dive sites that have them all.
From a stunning array of pacific reef fish such as Moorish Idols, Groupers and Leatherjackets to colourful nudibranchs and crinoid shrimp, to the Banded Sea snake, Leopard sharks and of course the magnificent South Pacific Humpback Whales. The waters of Vava'u can provide a treat for everyone.
Diving, Snorkeling and Whale watching
Diving Trips - January to December
Choose from daily two tank dive trips where you will experience two different dive sites or afternoon and night dives the only way to experience the true Vava'u night life. Group charters are also available and can be designed specifically to your requirements.
Never experienced diving, then give it a go with a Discover Scuba Experience, or for those snorkellers among you, Vava'u also offers many stunning shallow reefs.
Whale Watching/swimming - July to November
Vava'u is one of only four places in the world where it is permitted for people to snorkel with the Humpback Whales. A chance to experience one of the most fascinating and memorable experiences of your life. The South Pacific Humpback Whales use the calm waters of Vava'u to bring their newborn calves up, as you watch the relationship between mother and calf develop both above and below the surface other whales are busy mating and courting preparing themselves for the next season. Witness the well know behaviours such as breaching and spyhopping, this really is a chance of a lifetime.
Our boat also has a hydrophone from which we play the song of the Humpback Whale ove the stereo, a chance for everyone to hear the underwater opera.
Combination Diving and Whale watching/swimming - July to November
Not wanting to miss out on the underwater world of Vava'u, well we have the trip for you. Combining both areas with a one tank dive followed the rest of the day with whale watching and swimming with the whales. This is the way to truly see what the marine life of Vava'u has to offer.
Refreshments and snacks are provided on all trips.
We are a 5 star Resort Dive Centre offering courses from Discover Scuba through to Instructor and an array of Specialties. Courses are offered either in SDI/TDI or PADI.
Nitrox is available for all dives, and nitrox courses can be arranged for your trip, so you make the most of your time underwater.
Take all your memories home with you, our on-site professional photographers and videographers will capture those memories for you, or try for yourself with one of our rental digital still cameras or video cameras.
Our staff are all First aid and CPR qualified, our guides and instructors have 20+ years experience working in the diving and marine industry. All of our staff have completed and passed with flying colours ( they will show you their certificates) the IFAW Whale watching Guide course.
Our on-site boutique has a selection of t-shirts and local handicrafts as well as a selection of dive equipment. Our well stocked dive accessory selection allows you peace of mind on your travels.
Our custom designed 28 foot (8.5 metre ) rib dive boat, is a very comfortable and fast ride, again our time is spent underwater and enjoying the activities oif your trip. Designed for New Zealand maritime Safety standards, and fully equipped with all the necessary electronic equipment, you will feel safe in our hands.
Our dive rental equipment is all Scubapro allowing everyone to experience the comfort and reliability of professional equipment. Our on-site service technician can help with any equipment problems that may occur.
