Due to an over abundance of moose and black bear in this area surrounding our lodge, we have just recently been allocated non-resident moose licenses and black bear licenses. The latest figures released to us from the Wildlife Dept. for the area that we are hunting, shows a high density moose population (10 per square Km).
Our company is one of only two outfitters operating in the whole of this moose management area 6, which takes in approx. 1000 sq. Miles. Success rate will be in the high 90%, as this area is virtually inaccessible to the local hunters. Our hunter to guide ratio is 1 to 1 (if requested). There is an old saying in NF. “Seeing is believing”.
- Moose hunting: Our lodge offers the best in big game hunting in Western Newfoundland. Our Outfitters lodge can offer you the opportunity to hunt in a highly populated moose area, where sightings of bulls sporting racks with over forty points. You can experience the excitement of calling out a big bull moose or enjoy the peace and quiet of our comfortable lodge on Serpentine Lake miles away from civilization.
The lodge is designed for sports-minded people who prefer a week of private hunting with friends or family. While big game hunting is permitted using a minimum of a 30-30 calibre rifle, we recommend a 30-06 or greater for moose. There are two types of moose hunting: regular moose hunt and trophy moose hunt. Our success rate for moose has been 100 per cent for the past number of years. Large trophy bulls are quite common in this area. We will find a fine trophy for any hunter.
- Bear hunting: Newfoundlanders very seldom hunt black bears which accounts for the high population. Baits are permitted and bears can be taken by using bow or rifle. We offer a spring and early fall bear hunt. Prize black bears have been taken from this area, well above average for the province of Newfoundland. Our success rate for bear is around 80 percent.
Also we offer a wide variety of other adventure trips. They range from hiking into the high mountains, canoeing down Serpentine River, ice fishing in the winter months, photographers paradise (breathtaking scenery in the beautiful Serpentine Valley or the Blow Me Down mountains), we will be set up to handle cross country skiing and snowboarding. Other exciting activity is our snowmobile service. We will provide groomed trail rides that will take you through some of the most scenic country that you'll ever see.
The lodge is located on the north side of Serpentine River at the base of Blow me Down Mountains. Our double occupancy rooms can accommodate 4-6 guests at a time with the comfort of indoor plumbing. The lodge is heated with wood and a generator provides the electricity. The guest house which is separate from the guide and cook house has its own bathroom complete with shower. All linens and towels are provided.
If you are traveling by air, our shuttle service will pick you up at the Stephenville or Deer Lake airport. If you are traveling by vehicle than we can meet you in Corner Brook and accompany you to the main Lodge. Upon arrival at the designated drop off point, you will be taken to the lodge by one of our four wheel drive vehicles. Then you will take a 3 mile boat ride across the lake to the main lodge.
Our chef will cook a variety of Newfoundland dishes and other fantastic home cooked meals, where our guests can relax and enjoy them in a warm cozy atmosphere with a beautiful view of the lake and surrounding mountains. Home cooked meals are served everyday and field lunches are provided, so all you need to bring are your own personal gear.
Hunters should bring a supply of warm clothing and suitable rain gear, waterproof footwear is a must. Towels and sleeping gear will be supplied by the lodge.

Notes:
Big game license fees are included in the price. Government Goods and Services Tax 15% for Canadians and 7.5% for US and other foreign countries are to be paid to the lodge for all hunts and fishing trips. A 25% non-refundable deposit is required to reserve any booking.
