If you've always wondered what it's like to scuba dive then now it's easy. Sign up for our PADI Phuket Discover Scuba Diving experience in Thailand and you can find out without committing to a full scuba diving training course.
PADI Phuket Discover Scuba Diving is the safe, fun diving experience for complete beginners. Before the scuba dive our company's experienced instructors will teach you the basic theory necessary for your safety. The first few minutes of the scuba dive are spent practicing some basic skills, and then we'll take you on a tour of the reef. Your Santana instructor will strictly control the depth of the scuba dive and monitor you at all times.
Our company guarantees the PADI Phuket Discover Scuba Diving training experience will be one day of your Phuket holidays that you will never forget, but if you would like the perfect souvenir of your PADI Phuket day, our videographers-in-residence, Bubble Vision, will produce you a personalized PADI Phuket Thailand scuba diving underwater video so you can re-live your underwater adventure and share it with your family and friends.
The sheltered, shallow bays of the Phuket scuba dive Racha Yai island and diving Phuket Thailand Racha Noi dive sites south of Phuket are excellent spots to make your first PADI Phuket scuba dive training while enjoying some beautiful scenery, or if you prefer we can take you scuba diving at Kata Beach on Phuket island itself.
* Racha Yai: Koh Racha Yai Island (literally "Big King Island") lies 10 km south of Phuket and provides a wealth of dive sites out of the scuba diving Thailand Phuket scuba day trip Phuket diving destinations list. You may see this island also referred to as Raja Yai Island or Raya Yai Island.
The island's pristine beaches continue underwater as a white, sandy seabed, interspersed with hard-coral gardens and boulders. With your first descent into the clear turquoise water you'll know you made a good choice coming here for your scuba diving Thailand Phuket scuba dive adventure day trip.
Two of the islands prettiest sites, Lucy's Reef and Staghorn Reef, are home to some of the best staghorn coral you will see anywhere. Trumpetfish swim above this, their favorite habitat, sometimes hitching a ride above a grouper or porcupinefish. Giant moray eels, triggerfish, pufferfish, lionfish and scorpionfish are just a few of the other species on display.
Down at 21m off Racha's Lucy's Reef is a small but special coral outcrop which always has a surprise in store. Besides the resident giant moray eel and shrimps living there, this is one of the few places around where you are likely to see a lively school of striped eel catfish, although on one recent dive we found an enormous stonefish there instead.
Besides providing excellent Phuket scuba diving for experienced divers, Racha Yai island is a fantastic location to make your first open-water course training scuba dives aboard our day trip Phuket diving or just to snorkel. In the sheltered bays of Racha Yai the seabed is generally sandy, shallow and gently shelving, and visibility is always good.
Racha Yai's scuba dive sites are spread all around her coast, so even on a rough day one of her top-class scuba dive Racha sites is sheltered. Bungalow Bay, home of the Racha island's small populated resort, is invariably sheltered and has some interesting scuba diving. Schools of barracuda live here and more unusual species such as and rock mover wrasse.
Last dive of the Phuket scuba diving day trip is often at Barracuda Bay in the north of the Racha island, or at Home Run, where a small ship wreck has become home to many species of reef fish. Our company visits the dive Racha Yai sites 3 or 4 times per week aboard our day trip Phuket diving adventure boat, all year round. Check Santana's day trip Phuket diving Phuket day trips Phuket scuba dive destinations page for details and prices.
* Dive Racha Noi: 5 km south of Racha Yai Island, and 15 km south of Phuket lies Koh Racha Noi ("Little King Island"). You may see this island also referred to as Raja Noi Island or Raya Noi Island. This is the furthest scuba dive sites Phuket destination one can comfortably travel in a diving day trip from Phuket.
Beyond this is the open Andaman Sea and the scuba diving Thailand feeling at Racha Noi Island is definitely more oceanic. The extra depth and distance from land means the visibility is generally the best out of the scuba dive sites Phuket day trip destinations collection. Again there are one or two sheltered bays with a sandy bottom. Fine scuba dive sites to make your first open water scuba diving Thailand training dives.
For more experienced divers, however, are in for a treat in their scuba diving Phuket Thailand adventure. South Reef is a very exciting scuba dive site. This is a pinnacle rising up to 12m, lying a couple of hundred meters from the main island. The scenery here is very similar to the Similan Islands: huge boulders and drop offs.
Currents here can be quite strong, but you are rewarded by larger fish. Manta rays are commonly seen here, circling and feeding, and whalesharks visit occasionally. Schools of blackfin barracuda are common, as are trevally. It's another of those scuba dive sites Phuket spots where the fish are darting about in the current and you feel anything might show up.
Other fine scuba diving Thailand dive sites to dive at Racha Noi Island are Marita's Rock, on the west of the island, and Banana Bay, on the east. The variety of marine life at this dive sites Phuket destination is extensive. Octopus, sea snakes, moray eels, giant pufferfish and blue-spotted stingrays are all common. We have seen turtles too at Marita's Rock. In addition the scuba diving Thailand Marita's Rock dive sites have some atmospheric swim-throughs formed by the huge granite boulders.
If you enjoy your first scuba dives in Phuket then why not sign up for a Thailand PADI Scuba Diver course or Santana's Thailand PADI Open Water course training ? The skills we'll teach you during your PADI Phuket Discover Scuba Diving course training experience can be used as credit towards these PADI Phuket certifications.
