Arguably one of the most aesthetic mountains in the world Ama Dablam, at 6828m is a Himalayan classic. Our ascent route up the Southwest Ridge is an elegant line with technical mixed climbing, beautiful sheer rock and steep ice, leading to a lofty summit in the heart of the Nepal Himalayas.
This is a four week trip that begins in Katahmandu and on to Lukla to begin a trek through the Kumbu region. On the trek we visit the Sherpa villages of Namche Bazaar, Tenboche, and Pangboche on our way to Ama Dablam’s base camp. Once acclimatized we will move up to Camp 1 at the base of the Southwest Ridge proper. The ascent along the ridge to Camp 2 is technical with steep and exposed climbing all along the way. The final climb to the summit follows steep snow and ice up to 80 degrees to gain the airy summit with breathtaking views of the Himalayan giants that surround Ama Dablam including; Makalu, Everest, and Cho Oyo. This expedition is for the experienced climber with good technical skills and previous altitude experience.
