This trek is one of Tasmania's Great Walks and it is a must for any walker visiting Australia. Our style of trek is camping and we need to be self-sufficient and carry full backpacks. You'll be walking through varied and remote wilderness areas.
We begin our 9 day 85km journey with a light aircraft flight into the airstrip at Melaleuca then travel from west to east over wilderness beaches and dramatic peaks, through temperate rainforest and across pristine rivers and creeks. Aboriginal people used this same route for thousands of years and evidence of their culture can still be seen. The diversity of plant and animal species in the park is amazing, particularly the abundant bird life. A good level of fitness is required to complete this trek and walkers are required to walk from 4km to 15km a day.
