Okatore forms part of the Khomas Hochland Conservancy, a combination of 20 game and cattle farms. Combined this forms an area of about 200 000 ha that is managed as a group. This makes it possible for larger groups to hunt together on Okatore. On demand guides from the neighboring farms will assist with hunting and guiding. In Namibia, trophy hunting season lasts from 1 February until 30 November.
Single hunters hunt exclusively with the landlord. In larger hunting groups, a hunting guide is assigned to every two hunters. Hunting groups leave from the lodge to the hunting areas depending on the animals to be hunted. Non-hunting visitors are welcome to accompany the hunt. Once game is spotted the hunt continues on foot. Hunting from a hide is possible in certain instances. At the bar, or over a wholesome meal, hunters can share their hunting experiences with the other guests. It is possible to exchange the hunting guide between different hunting groups. The field preparation of the trophies is done at the lodge. Head preparations can be exported by the hunter directly, with his luggage. The Khomas-Hochland-Conservancy (KHC) currently comprises 20 Game- and cattle farms with a combined size of about 200 000 ha, providing a habitat for more than 30 game and bird species. Since its inception in 1992, the conservancy strives to attain the creation and maintenance of a healthy, rich and diverse game population that is able to roam freely without restrictions imposed by game fencing.
