Following a 6 month expedition paddling, photographing and exploring the entire Mozambican coastline by kayak, Jakera are now running a limited series of adventure kayaking trips to the Quirimba Archipelago in the far north of the country.
The Quirimbas have existed in a kind of time-warp: some of the children we encountered on our exploratory trip had never seen a white person before. Life happens in hand-built wooden dhows and dugouts and in rudimentary reed huts, and revolves around the sea. Of course, when any isolated location opens up to the outside world things start to change rapidly. Potentially the Quirimbas, as a consequence of becoming accessible to visitors for the first time in a generation, will over time lose some of that which makes them so special right now. If you are interested in exploring the area by kayak we would be very happy to put forward some proposed expeditions for you - all our trips are customized. Member discount: Notes:
