This course was designed by our female staff members in order to offer young women a unique wilderness experience. Each trip contains the same activities as those found in our Classic Adventures program, while allowing participants to address personal and group challenges from a female perspective. All participants are encouraged to work together to create a supportive, non-competitive environment where everyone is able to succeed in all aspects of the adventure regardless of ability level. Throughout the course, you will take on increasing leadership roles and responsibilities. You will leave this course not only with a greater sense of the outdoors but also with newfound strength and pride in yourself.
You will have the unique opportunity to work primarily with female activity instructors and group leaders who will facilitate discussions about female role models in nontraditional sports like rock climbing and mountaineering, and the obstacles those women have overcome. Throughout this course, group leaders will work with participants to confront their own obstacles and to help them discover how conquering them can be rewarding, exciting, and exhilarating. It is our hope that each young woman will leave with greater confidence, lasting friendships, and a strong desire to continue her involvement in outdoor adventure activities.
