On Ball's Bluff Revisited Anniversary Canoe Trip river tour, participants canoe into, and then hike across, the Ball's Bluff battlefield where thousands of troops from Virginia, Mississippi, New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts engaged in deadly, leaden conversation in October of 1861. Caterers greet each group in the middle of the tour and serve an authentic Civil War era meal.
Groups traditionally set wreaths at the Battlefield Cemetery, and in the Potomac, to honor the American battle dead of the Blue and Gray. From Ball's Bluff, the tour continues down the river along an eight-mile section of the Potomac, to other sites that played a part in the battle. Logistics in this section of the river are just as difficult today as they were back in 1861… so, book early!
