Either on a weekday or on a Saturday, a Day with Kawartha Kayaking includes:
- Easily accessed from most major cities in southern Ontario (1-3/4 hours from Toronto).
- Meet at the gas pump, Littles Store - just off the Stony Lake Road (County Road 6, see directions) at 9:45 a.m.
- Transferred by large boat to our private Kayak island. This is our summer home.
- A short lesson on how to handle a Kayak i.e. how to get in & out safely and easily, etc.
- Tour by Kayak (of course) a small cluster of islands
- B.B.Q. luncheon.
- Tour of a larger cluster of islands after lunch. Will be stopping at various islands to stretch and for anyone wanting a swim in the warm, clear water.
- All equipment provided.
After your lesson, enjoy a delicious barbecue shore lunch, followed by leisurely flat water paddling among Stony Lake's 1,100 islands, or choose one of our combination packages and expand your Kawarthas experience.
Directions:
Stony Lake is located 40 km northeast of Peterborough. From Toronto take the bypass at Peterborough connecting Hwy #115 and Hwy #7 to Norwood. To reach Norwood you may also go by way of Cobourg. From Norwood go north on County Road #40 for 22 km. The first stop sign you come to will be County Road 6 (Stony Lake Road). Turn left and continue to Gilchrist Bay, a little less than 3 km. Turn at the signs "Little's Cottage" and "Pine Vista". Groups meet at the gas pump, Little Store, at 9:45 a.m.
What to Bring:
Shorts, water sandals, bathing suit, sun protection, hat, rain gear, dry change of clothes. If prone to allergies, bring medication.
