Though mass tourism has taken over Santorini during the past 15 years, there are still magical places in the island that only have been discovered by very few visitors. Santorini counts with two great hiking paths with unique views over the island and the Aegean Sea. We have organized two hiking journeys that include ecological observation as well as a picnic along the way.
You can choose to walk along the cliff side, following the northwestern trail of the Caldera´s rim, or walk towards the highest peak on the island to reach the Monastery Profitis Ilias. Our tour conductors will be a fun and friendly company along the way. They will provide you with interesting information about the island and will assist you on your journey from the beginning to the end. We like to be flexible to accommodate to each individual needs, therefore fell free to choose the dates and times.
However we suggest starting early morning or just before the sunset to avoid the strong sun and enjoy the best light for taking pictures. For further information and details please contact us. Special arrangements for cruise ship passengers can be organized. This hiking tour is not recommended to children under 12 years old. We strongly advice to wear comfortable or hiking shoes, a hat and sun screen. Please advice if you require hiking poles.
Hike and walk from Fira to Oia:
- Approximate duration 4 hours including picnic stop. Suggested starting time 8:00 am or 5:00 pm;
- Landmarks: The rock of Skaros and the "Steno", the narrowest part of the island;
- Places of interest: Nomikos Exhibition Center, Church Panagia Agion Theodoron, Church Agios Gerasimos, Coventry Agios Nicholaos, Church Panagia Maltese;
- Villages: Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigli, Oia.
