Tour Samples

Option 1: Auckland City Sightseeing.

Your tour commences with a short drive along Auckland’s picturesque waterfront with its bays to visit Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World. This aquarium complex is quite unique as it is positioned below the road, and in addition to its varied marine life displays, it is also home to two colonies of Penguins. This is the only place in the world where Penguins are living and thriving underground in simulated Antarctic conditions and where you will be able to get up close to the two species and take photographs. Departing Kelly Tarlton’s we will continue along the waterfront for a short drive ‘Takaparawhau’, Bastion Point, an historic headland and memorial with sweeping vistas of Auckland’s harbour, Rangitoto and outer gulf islands. After taking in the views we will drive back along the waterfront and up through one of the oldest and most historic suburbs, Parnell, into the Auckland Domain, an extensive and very beautiful public park. The Domain is home to the Auckland War Memorial Museum which opened in 1929 on this site and is recognised as one of New Zealand’s most iconic buildings. The Museum is a world class institution, and while it is called the War Memorial Museum in memory of all the men and women who gave their lives on active service in World Wars, it is also a social and natural history museum. The Museum contains the most significant Maori and Polynesian collections in the world and you will see a number of these important collections on display, including Maori toanga (treasures). During your tour you will also hear stories of our nation’s history, our cultural heritage and see our distinctive flora and unique fauna exhibits. On arrival you will be beckoned by a Maori warrior to attend the ‘Haka Legends’ Maori Concert & Cultural performance. After viewing Auckland Museum’s highlights, we depart the Museum and drive up to the summit of Auckland’s highest extinct volcano, ‘Maungawhau’, Mt Eden, affording spectacular panoramic views of Auckland City. An important pre-European Maori pa site, you will have the opportunity to take in the 360 degree sights of Auckland and its environs. After taking in the views we will then proceed down the mountain, around its base to a charming garden Café at Eden Gardens, situated in an old quarry on the mountains Eastern slope, for lunch and refreshments. Eden Gardens is renowned for its beautiful award winning 5.5 acre garden where visitors can enjoy the waterfalls, rock formations, resident native birds and explore a variety of plant collections including perennials, vireyas, camellias, bromeliads and native New Zealand plants. After a relaxing lunch and walk around the gardens we will drive through the CBD and down onto the waterfront where you will have the opportunity to walk around the viaduct area before making your way your accommodation or cruise ship. Tour suitable prior to or post ship cruises. Travel in style in either our BMW 7 Series, or Mercedes Benz Viano.

Option 2: Sightseeing Tour in Auckland.

The four hour tour begins with a trip to the top of Mt Eden to view the crater of this extinct volcano and to enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of Auckland City and environs. Leaving Mt Eden our tour continues through the elegant suburb of Epsom into the Auckland Domain to the Auckland Museum. We spend approximately 1½ hours exploring the museum and if the tour coincides with one of the daily Maori Concert and Cultural shows that take place in the museum, guests have the option of attending the concert. Following the tour of the museum, guests can partake of light refreshments in the museum café. Leaving the museum we travel through the suburb of Remuera across to Orakei and into one of Auckland’s finest streets - Paratai Drive. A short detour will take us through the Orakei Marae then to the Auckland waterfront and Kelly Tarlton’s Underwater World where guests can enjoy the Antarctic experience before visiting the Aquarium. After visiting Kelly Tarlton’s, we continue around the Auckland Waterfront to St Heliers and Achilles Point, where guests can enjoy wonderful views of the inner harbour, the city and islands of the Hauraki Gulf. Travelling back through St Heliers via Auckland’s eastern suburbs, we return to the city and the point of departure. Suitable prior to or post ship cruises.
