At one of the local wineries, discover the particularity of local vineyards that grow on rich volcanic soil and produce unique wines of distinguished taste.
Oia, pronounced "Eeeha", during the 19th century was inhabited by great navigators and exported wine overseas becoming "The Pearl of the Aegean Sea" for its beauty and wealth. But after a great earthquake, it was destroyed. Nowadays represents an artistic center with its characteristic houses built within the volcanic earth "hanging" off the cliff.
