In 1594 there was built the first known concrete building in the Bauska Town in Latvia – the Church of Holy Spirit what at that time belonged to the German congregation. At the end of the 16th century and in the beginning of the 17th century Bauska Town in Latvia grew rapidly as a centre of merchants and craftsmen of the Dukedom. There formed the street planning of the present Bauska Old Town in Latvia. The year of granting the rights of a Town for Bauska in Latvia is not known and most often as the foundation year of the Town is considered the year of 1609 when the Duke Friedrich made a present of seal with the picture of lion to Bauska City in Latvia. During the time of the Duke Friedrich Bauska Town in Latvia obtained all the attributes and privileges characteristic for towns of that time: in 1615 – the privilege to construct the Town Council Building, in 1635 the Rules Of Order.
