Drawing Rome: Castel Sant' Angelo, is a hands-on tutorial on how to engage and hone your powers of observation and expression. Under the auspices of one of our professional artists, we will begin in the secluded garden of the Castel Sant'Angelo with an overview to learning to see, an introduction to materials and a demonstration of some basic drawing techniques.
We will then make our way to the top of Castel Sant'Angelo and take in the breathtaking 360 degree view of the city where you will then choose your subject. As the Italians say "<em> hai l'imbarazzo della scelta</em>" ("you have the embarrassment of choice"). From the skyline of St. Peter's in the West to the Tiber river to the East, to the sculptures and passageways in the Castel itself, your location is a visual artist's paradise. Our drawing workshop ends with a thoughtful critique of the work.Drawing is open to participants of all artistic abilities. In fact, non-artists are strongly encouraged to participate. Talent is not required; a willingness to engage the artistic process and to keep oneself open to new possibilities is required. The price of this workshop includes Context's drawing kit, specially put together by the artists who run the workshop. Each participant will receive and take home an A4 Windsor & Newton Sketchbook, three pieces of Conte' (black, white, and sanguine), a pen eraser, and two pieces of colored Canson paper. Notes:
