We meet around 9 am, usually at your hotel/apartment. This tour will be a surprise for most of you. It is a 1 hour drive from Florence to Lucca, a Roman town enclosed by massive red brick wall. These walls, built between 16th & 17th century, are unique because one can easily walk or ride a bycicle on top of them. If you like to bike we can do that too.
We will walk or bike along via Finlungo, the main axis of the historic core, which is lined with ancient houses and towers and stop at the Roman Amphitheatre. Then we will explore the Puccini's house, the church of San Michele and the Duomo of San Martino with its rich decoration, both typical examples of Pisano Romanesque style.
After visiting one of the beautiful villas (Villa Mansi or Villa Torrigiani) and its gardens just outside Lucca, we will move on to Pisa. Stop at the Leaning Tower square with its Duomo, Battistero and Monumental cementery. Remember that if you wish to climb the tower during March - end October it is better to buy tickets at www.opapisa.it , they allow 30 pax each 30 min, they don't accept phone reservations.
