Our Academy is owned and managed by a linguist and a university lecturer Ewa Maslowska PhD, is a private language school, which specializes in teaching Polish to foreigners since 1997. Over 10 years of experience in introducing expatriates: foreign managers, diplomats and students to polish language unable to learn what are the most frequent difficulties in learning our language and how to cross the barriers, it also made us sensible on their specific needs and cultural differences. During this period of time we helped our clients to succeed on the Polish market, to adapted to the Polish life style and to discover Poland, its culture, tradition, history, economy and art.
As we are enthusiastic in teaching we keep looking for more and more effective methods of language training. We have developed several programs meeting specific purposes of our students and we always underline the correspondence between language and the cultural context. The other element which is essential in our way of teaching is a cultural code of conventional behavior, specific for each language. It is impossible to play well the role, without knowing the scenario.
Our programs are focus on communication but all the language skills (reading, writing, listening, and understanding) are developed parallel to equip the students with tools for an effective communication. We only use active learning. The students don’t just learn Polish; they assimilate it through acting out simple situations presented by the teacher. Then the students build their own phrases using the same sentence pattern in a different context. The method uses building blocks: the participants build more and more sophisticated structures by combining very simple elements.
We speak only Polish in the classroom. The tutors are specially trained haw to teach in this manner to develop student’s understanding skills starting from the very beginning.

Other Activities:
The courses are held in Warsaw or at resorts or at the country. Courses held in Warsaw are available all year round. Intensive tuition with sightseeing program during summer is organized for a group of min 5 persons. The sightseeing tours round Warsaw are organized after the classes. It is a part of the practical conversation program. During weekends there are trips to the interesting places of the Mazovia district (like Selazowa Wola – Chopin’s birthplace) and one day train trips to Krakow or Torun or Gdansk. Courses held in resorts or spa – are organized only by request for individual tuition or organized groups.
The program touring Poland with a language training "Polish in 4 weeks in 4 regions" is held in 4 sides: near Malbork (a historical city with a Teutonic Knights Castle), at Lipsk - a village on the north-east border of Poland (on the territory of the National Park, the village cultivate traditional crafts and folklore), the third side is in the Lublin region (south-east part of Poland , famous of historical cities, aristocratic residences, like a Palace in Kozlowka with the museum of the remains of communism, and marvelous villages with living folklore), the last side is in Bieszczady - the most wild part of Polish mountains, of the very south-east corner of Poland. All those regions present a specific multi cultural character, typical for the territory situated on the border and on the way of the historical commercial tracts. It is a specific zone of mixture of cultural, religion, ethnographic Polish- Lithuanian, Polish-Belorussian, Polish- Ukrainian and Polish-Tatar influences. In each side students spend one week exploring the region and taking intensive lessons, both classes (2 x 90’ sessions per day) and practical conversation during meals, recreation activities and sightseeing. To receive the effect of total immersion in the language students are located in the agriculture hosts houses and they travel from site to site by a train and use as far as possible only local transport. It gives them the opportunity to experience a real Polish life, taste regional foods, to catch contact with local people. As the east region is not industrial one, it preserved well the nature and folklore, so it is an ethnographic tour through the unique cross cultural zone. Both during the journey by a train or a local transport and during their recreational time they have to do the typical communication tasks: making interviews with the passengers, ask the local people about the craft shops, prepare the programs of the excursions for the other participants, discuss the best plan, collect information from the tourist office, visit local artists and craft shops, find the guide of the national park, order a float for a trip on swamps to see the marsh birds and animals etc. One week spent in one region it is enough time to visit the most attractive places, so moving to the other side makes the trip more attractive and is an occasion to go across the country from the north to the south during one visit. Also the tour round Poland allows to have a wide view of the country.
The accommodation in the agricultural host houses is not expensive and keeps the standard. Students share rooms with a bathroom. Usually there are 2,3 beds in the room. Most of the houses offer nutrition as well, so there is an occasion to taste local food.
The four sides represent completely different style, landscape and folklore. The first one near Malbork is a typical north Polish region, with visible German (Prussian) influences, especially in the architecture. As it is near the seaside it is possible to visit Gdansk or Frombork (the Copernicus observatory) or take a boat trip trough the famous Elblag channel. Then we move into north- east into Lipsk, to the National Biebrza Park. It is one of the rare huge swamps territory – a side of marsh birds. The other attraction of this region is the Tatar route trough the settles of the Tatar people, who still live there cultivating their culture, religion and customs often in a neighborhood with Polish or Belorussian. They don’t speak their language any more , but they preserved typical Tatar names, and the language of the liturgy. In one village one can meet three temples: catholic church, mosque, and an Uniate church.
The region of Lublin brings us back to the civilization, to a picturesque villages and aristocratic residences, palaces as well as nice small cities.
The last side is a mountain region. All hills are completely or partly covered by a forest. Bieszczady are not the highest chains, with an old shepherd tradition. There are spa centers, because of the climate quality, so staying in such a place is a real adventure.
Learning the language in a unique Polish setting in association with the landscape, food, people, tradition is the most effective and friendly way to faster the process and to make a visible progress in a short time.
