With a coast boasting wonderful beaches, the area around Valencia is a pearl of nature. Valencia, the third largest city of the country, is surrounded by orchards and mountain ranges: oranges, mandarins and lemons bring colourful touches to the countryside. Large and cosmopolitan, it has a thriving economic and commercial activity centered on its important fairs and its harbor. The old part of town reflects the beauty of a capital thanks to its numerous monuments.
A leisurely walk through its streets and on its beaches will show you the many charms of this city. In the old quarter you will discover the cathedral and the fish auction market, Valencia’s most important and most beautiful monuments. Large amounts of money have been invested to erect buildings of a spectacular architecture, to develop the famous City of Arts and Sciences and open museums which can easily rival those of Madrid or Barcelona.
When the afternoon turns into evening, the Blasco Ibanez and Aragón avenues fill up with people who are simply looking for a place where to while their time away. Valencia is also well-known for its beautiful parks and its botanical garden.
Maybe another good reason to come to Valencia is to attend one of its numerous and surprising festivals. The “Fallas” are Valencia’s most famous and probably most spectacular festival. Later there is the Three Kings’ arrival ,the festival dedicated to the martyr St. Vicente, patron Saint of the city and the impressive processions of the Holy Week (week preceding and including Easter Sunday).
If you are a gourmet we suggest you try the best “paella” in Spain while soaking in the sun on Valencia’s market square. Beside this famous rice dish, there are other delicious specialties like “fideuá” (a pasta dish combining seafood and saffron), or “suc de peix” (fish soup) which we can only advise you to try for yourself.
We invite you to come and discover the many facets of this truly interesting city.
