In the heart of the Italian countryside, our center organises workshops in Raku Ceramics focusing on the creation, glazing and firing of ceramic vessels within the context of the Raku technique. During the week you will be shown the basics of modelling clay to create a range of pieces which might be vessels or sculptures, which you will decorate in a variety of ways using special raku glazes to create a beautiful range of individual surface marks, patterns and images. Italian and international students interact in the same classes, making it an ideal venue to share ideas and enhance your overall experience.
The courses are run by Colleen Corradi Brannigan, a practising printmaker and artist.
It is an ideal base for further exploration as it is located near castles, forts, churches and abbeys which are well worth a visit.
Situated in a beautiful village at the foot of the Abruzzi Mountains in Italy, the art center is surrounded by the most beautiful scenery just waiting to be painted. Accommodation available in residence.
Cost for the workshop: Euro 190 (2 weekends). If your time is limited, courses can be run on an individual basis in 5 days.
