The Accademia Europea di Firenze offers the ceramics course for students of all levels of knowledge. The school is located in the heart of the historic area of the city, just a short walk from some of the most important locations in history. Florence is the a city the breathes art and develops it in all possible ways. Used for millenniums, ceramic is one of the most important media for artistic developments. In the ceramics course you will learn all necessary techniques, such as molding, glazing, painting and many other techniques in order to achieve your goals.
Beginners Course. The beginners' ceramic course in Florence will help the student to become acquainted with ceramics and all the potential forms it might take and which techniques should be applied to achieve each one. The course contemplates all the primary methods of molding and adorning clay, covering the essential theoretic information about the nature of clay and glazes. Specific assignments are given whenever a new technique has been presented. Low-temperature terracotta materials are used in the studio, since these are the ones that have been used in the Mediterranean area for centuries. Raku, sawdust saggar, and pit firings are also used. Whenever possible, field trips are arranged to present students to local traditions and to contemporary artists' work. Intermediate Course. The intermediate ceramic course in Florence is designed to provide students who already have covered all the basic notions of building and glazing of ceramics among some other basic techniques. The students will deepen their study of contemporary ceramics. Advanced Course. The advanced ceramics course is designed for those students who are capable of working almost completely independently. It requires a high level of technical skill and competence. At the advanced ceramics course students will push their ideas to the limits, refine their skills, master the ceramic materials, techniques and processes in order to create an original and personal expressionism in clay.
