The Diego Maritn Pan Institute offers an opportunity for you to learn to play the steelpan. Instruments are provided to you. The main instructor is Clyde George also known as Lightning. Lightning is an internationally acclaimed pan player from Trinidad. His knowledge of his instrument and his music is exceptional. You can choose to learn the single pan, the double tenor pan, the double second pan or the cello pans. You will enjoy 10 hours a week of private and group class and have the opportunity to play with some of Trinidad's finest musicians. You will enjoy guest lecturers such as Bertie Marshall, the inventor of the double tenor and master tuner. Calypsonians, such as Funny, Regeneration Now, Gypsy and more will entertain you and introduce you to the art of calypso music.

Faculty Information:
Lightning George has been teaching steel pan for 30 years. His specialty is jazz improvisation but he is versatile in all styles of music. He has performed with some of the greatest jazz and calypso artists including the Mighty Sparrow, Calypso Rose, Clark Terry, John Faddis, Willie Pickens and more. He works closely with his mentor and teacher, Bertie Marshall. Bertie will introduce you to pan tuning and pan history.
