Thanks to the abundance of water, Amsterdam offers plenty of photogenic opportunities. The hustle and bustle of the city make Amsterdam a perfect place to practice travel photography with a focus on street life and architecture. Amsterdam has little suburban sprawl, thus making it easy to explore the Dutch countryside. On day 2 we make a trip to the nearby city and castle of Muiden.
Course Topics
You learn to handle situations you encounter – from blazing sunshine, to lack of light, from strong winds, and a ban on using your flash, to large crowds – to make the best of your images while traveling.
We show you different ways to stabilize your camera, how to deal with light, how to make good use of your fellow travel companions and how to capture the essence of a place. Photo shoots on different locations are combined with discussing and viewing the results.
The travel photography course covers a wide range of subjects: from nature and landscape photography to interior photography and capturing people and street life. The course is held upon request.
Faculty Information:
Your photography instructor is Anton Harfst, a professional photographer specialized in outdoor and storytelling photography. He lives and works in Amsterdam and in Sparta, Greece.

We combine the photo workshop with visits to great places in and around Amsterdam.
Facility Information:
The workshops are mainly held outdoors. We view photos either at our office in the south of Amsterdam (in the famous neighbourhood the Pijp) or in our workshop accommodation close to the Vondelpark.
