Art Heaven was founded as a response to the September 11, 2001 tragedy. During that dark time creating a place to expand the beauty in our world seemed like the most vital healing balm I could offer. Many friends pulled together to support this idea by purchasing my paintings, my art trips to France and memberships in Art Heaven, etc. until the funds were gathered to purchase our new Art Heaven/Art House in Sebastopol.
Faculty Information:
Eventually, after being open to the public for three years, a cohesive group of 10 painters bonded and became invaluable to each others’ process. Simultaneously, Carole Watanabe, who had been teaching the group decided to change her role from teacher to guiding light and hostess. She moved the group to her own newly expanded studio where painting sessions are still very alive and well. The group of 10 is individuating now and beginning to have shows of their own, expanding the bright and beautiful spots we focus on in our worlds.
Art heaven has become a pocket of painters who practice living more art-filled lives.

• Private collaborative painting with Carole in Sebastopol
• Sign up for Ripe Expressions – a two day (5 hrs each) collaborative painting workshop experience in Sebastopol where Carole will teach you all she knows and you leave with two signed 30x40 paintings painted by you and Carole. Cost $2000.
Facility Information:
We filled the rooms with easels, work tables, still-life props and most important – a group of people who wanted to paint together. We were open 24/7 as all members had keys and soon the floors looked like a Jackson Pollock painting. Our practice was holistic, we created paintings, created community, created a venue to show and sell our works, gave each other the support and compassion necessary for all types of painters to flourish.
