Our center is a language and cultural center devoted to achieving linguistic proficiency in the context of cultural immersion and intercultural education. We seek to cultivate global awareness and cooperation through the sharing of cultures and languages. We believe that participation in our program teaches not only a new language, but also effective tools for communication and understanding in the constantly evolving world culture in which we live.
Our school offers a series of 18 courses designed by curriculum specialists, using interactive small groups in an environment of total immersion in Latin American culture. Classes are 4 hours per day, Monday to Friday.
We offer students two campuses. Our city campus is in Heredia, 20 minutes from the capital city of San Jose, and our beach campus is located in Samara, a small beach town on the pacific coast in the culturally rich region of Guanacaste.
While here, students may choose to live with a Costa Rican family or in an apartment, hostel of hotel. We are happy to help students make any and all of these arrangements.
Faculty Information:
Our professors are university trained and credentialed to teach Spanish as a second language. We give all teachers further instruction on teaching in the context of total cultural immersion. Our staff is multi-cultural and multi-lingual in addition to being friendly, fun-loving, helpfull people.
Other Activities:
After classes and on weekends we offer a wide selection of activities, conducted in Spanish (the majority involve no extra charge). We encourage all students to participate in as many activities as possible, as you will find they greatly enhance your understanding of, and connection to, the culture.
Students may participate in latin dance and cooking classes, Spanish film nights, arts and crafts classes, "intercambios" (conversation and culture exchange with local students studying English with us), and more. On weekends we go to places like Arenal, Poas, and Rincon de la Vieja volcanoes, Monteverde cloud forest, Manuel Antonio national park, and much more.
Facility Information:
The Main Campus of our company is in Heredia, close enough to the Costa Rican capital of San Jose to be busy, yet with the friendly atmosphere of a small college town. The campus is built in 3 fully restored colonial homes with many large in-door and out-door patio and garden areas perfect for studying or relaxing after class, a dance studio, and kitchen. Internet is available to students free of charge and wireless connections are available for low weekly and monthly rates.
Our brand-new, custom build campus at the beach campus are right on beautiful Playa Samara, hascomfortable, breezy, equipped with audio-visual systems, classrooms. AC and ocean views in addition to an outdoor "rancho" for dance classes and a kitchen for cooking classes. Internet is available for students, wireless connections are not available there yet.
