Dates: May
This workshop is a discovery of my native city Palermo, chief town of Sicily -- both on the seaside and thru its historical center. We'll be based in the sea village of Mondello, right on the cross road of its 2-miles long beach but we will also do sightseeing and painting downtown Palermo, in the bewitching centro storico.
In Mondello we'll be surrounded by the grace of an early '900 century deco styled small vacation town, and in the sunlight of this former fishers' village. On the other side of the Mount Pellegrino (what a breathless view from its top!) Palermo is an amazing combination of different cultural heritages. Dominations include the presence of Arabs, Normands, Greeks and Spanish, who left their trace in the arts, sciences and architecture.
As you step out of the airplane at Palermo International Airport, the breeze of the sea will pervade your mind and you'll realize how a land can be so inspiring. The surrounding villages will provide a full immersion in a millenary history and culture. Not to mention the richness and delight of the food tradition. An ancient land of great contradictions and strong flavors, not easy to forget.
"Ciao Francesco, I enjoyed meeting you and being in your workshop. Wonderful places for painting and for experiencing the magic of the beautiful Sicily in spring. Hope I can come and do it again. Love" - Patricia, Buenos Aires
