Our successful series of hands-on master classes with top chefs followed by lunch and fine wines is continuing. These will be intimate affairs, informal, fun and very informative. By popular demand the head chef of The Ivy and David Thompson from Nahm will be starting the season. Our kitchen is an elegant designer kitchen in Holland Park, privately owned and perfect for hands-on courses, long lunches - weather permitting - on the terrace, it has a huge stainless steel central island, open fire place and top of the range appliances.
Classes will be 2 hours long. There will be classes with lots of tastings followed by an informal lunch and a chance to really learn how to create some wonderful dishes at home. Each course will be accompanied with a full recipe pack.
Amongst many recent accolades for Belgravia’s Thai restaurant Nahm are Carlton’s Outstanding Chef for David Thompson. David, author of the seminal Thai Food, is keeper of the Royal Thai recipes and celebrated London dry wit. He will be holding a hands on cooking court at our Holland Park kitchen where some of his best and tastiest secrets will be prepared and served. This food has nothing to do with the local take away, it is in another realm altogether.
Alan Bird is taking time out of his busy schedule to give four hands-on Masterclass. These entertaining and informative events have been a great success and will include some of his favorite recipes; Tomato and Basil Galette, The Ivy Fish Cake, Asparagus & Quail Egg Salad and Eggs Benedict. After the lesson Alan will join guests for a leisurely lunch. Time: 10.00 am followed by lunch
Faculty Information:
Alan Bird head chef of the Ivy will be bringing the ingredients from the Ivy and teaching a hands-on class including some of the Ivy’s best known dishes; Tomato and Basil Galette, The Ivy Fish Cake, Asparagus & Quail Egg Salad, Eggs Benedict, and some of The Ivy's risottos for starters. Alan is a mine of information and stories and is extremely entertaining.
Other Activities:
The Head Chef of Sheekey’s will be holding a class on all you need to know about fish and shellfish as well some of Sheekey's best loved dishes. There will be a chance to learn how to skin, fillet, and expertly cook fish; which fish is best for which type of cooking method and how to choose the freshest fish and shellfish.
