We explore the mythology and spirituality of North West Ireland with field trips. We guide our visitors through writing their inspirations from these tours then assist them into self publishing and marketing.

Each day, weather permitting, we provide a day tour following the myths, legends and Celtic Spirituality of Briιfne and N.W. Ireland.
Along the way we guide visitors into crafting their writing, photography and vieography from their inspirations.

This is coupled with 1 - 5 day package of meals and accommodation at the very cozy and comfortable Markree Castle with its log fires, gourmet cooking and traditional castle bedrooms.

On poor weather days, late afternoons of short winter days and evenings we provide evening workshops within the castle's comfortable historic chapel. We'll show you how to convert created work into marketable self published work.

My field visit tours are:

- Ancient Temples Of Co. Sligo - visiting sites and following legends of the most ancient people of ireland.

- Following The Tuatha De Dannan - sites and legends of this mystical race that has inspired so much of our historical fiction and science fiction today.

- Following Columcille - sites and insights into the poetical and highly spiritual times of Celtic Christianity.

- Following Yeats - W.B Yeats was inspired by ancient mythology. This tour becomes a workshop inspiring our visitors to be moved, like Yeats was, through their inspirations.

Faculty Information:
Markree Castle is a historic Irish Castle with beautiful grounds and historic connections to writing, illustrating and publishing arts.

It is most famous for cataloguing over 60,000 stars through the 19th century and discovering the asteroid planet Metis, beyond Pluto, about 60 years before Pluto was discovered.

Edward Henry Cooper of Markree commissioned William Wakemen to illustrate 100s of local ancient sites for fear that they would soon dissapear.

Cecil Frances Alexander wrote the famous hymn "All Things Bright & Beautiful" while staying at Markree Castle which inspired James Harriot to title all of his vet books after lines of that hymn after he stayed at Markree

Bryan Cooper of Markree created one of the largest independent libraries in Europe and hosted the Inklings, a writing group from Oxford that included C.S.Lewis and Tolkein.

Johnny Cash stayed and recorded a track at Markree Castle with local songwriter Sean Kelly in 1992.

Other Activities:
If you wish to mix a stay at Markree Castle with our workshops plus alternative activities we can arrange horse trekking, cycling, hillwalking, archery, fishing, sustainable living workshops, spa services

Facility Information:
We hold workshops within the intimate and comfortable Markree Castle chapel in a casual circle style format rather than classroom or boardroom style. We do have some breakout sessions with computer applications.

Workshops follow inspiration sharing meals in the beautifully preserved riccoco styled 19th century restaurant. Dining menu ranges from local game and local farmed meats to vegetarian, vegan and allergy friendly options

We have hot beverages, bar services and a wine cellar of over 200 bins available at all times. No smoking within the castle.

Within Markree Castle we have 30 comfortable period furnished guest rooms that can sleep up to 74 people. Workshop groups will be sharing the Castle with other guests visiting and staying at Markree Castle as part of their vacation but the chapel based workshops are exclusive and private to ourselves.

During most daylight hours, weather permitting, we are out on field trips to many beautiful and story packed locations.
