Are you considering studying at a German university? Our one year German language course includes 960 teaching units and prepares you in 12 months for the German language exams which are required for entry to all German universities and colleges. This intensive course is taken in two six-month blocks, each culminating in one of the required examinations. Students are taught in small groups of about 12 students, so that all are able to participate actively in the learning and communication process.
Our Institute has the aim of building cultural bridges between the continents and improving relations and inter-cultural understanding between the cultures and nations of Europe and the Orient. We are cooperating with various educational organizations around the world and has an experienced team running high-quality educational programs including professional education for school-leavers, training-programs for managers, university degree programs for students and international research seminars for government officials.
You can expect the following advantages:
- Courses are geared to passing the DSH-exam;
- Extra examination courses are offered for Studienkolleg and TestDaF candidates;
- After graduation, students may apply for any of Germany’s 300+ universities;
- Head of German Department will assist you to find the right university course for you;
- Multilingual, dedicated teachers tailor the course to meet your individual needs;
- Many teachers can speak the native language of the course participants;
- Average group size: 8-12 students;
- Host families provide communication opportunities outside of the classroom;
- Personal advice and assistance for individual problems;
- Relaxed atmosphere.
Young students from more than 40 different countries participate in our unique intensive German courses. In the first phase of the course, students are usually grouped according to their linguistic and cultural backgrounds and are taught by teachers who are, in many cases, fluent in your native language. So students from Morocco and Egypt are grouped together and taught by native Germans who speak Arabic. Students from Singapore, Taiwan and China are grouped together and taught by teachers who speak fluent Chinese. Students from Pakistan are taught by Germans with knowledge of English and in some cases Urdu, etc. At the end of this part of the course you can take the ZD examination (Certificate in German as a Foreign Language), which fulfills the nationally recognized Elementary Level III “Grundstufe III”. (This certificate is required by some German universities before you can take their own German language course and entrance examination, the DSH.)
You then move on to the second six-month block, in which you are grouped together with students from all over the world. After a total of 12 months of study you are ready to take the ZMP (Central Intermediate Examination), which corresponds to Intermediate Level II “Mittelstufe II”. (Some universities require you to have passed this before taking their DSH entrance examination.)
EURASIA Institute also offers you the opportunity to study at a higher level still, offering courses which prepare you for a university’s DSH, TestDaF or Studienkolleg exam. German universities and colleges will specify which of these three exams they require you to have passed before you can gain admission to study there. German immigration laws require students to pass this exam within 18 months, however many of our students pass the exam within 9-12 months.
Our German language courses are designed to meet the needs of all students hoping to pursue higher education at a German university. The “German as a Foreign Language” courses are designed with the total learning experience in mind, which means that German classes and speaking practice go hand in hand. At our Institute we consider it essential that you live in a German-speaking environment with a host family so that you can get the best out of your course. Through our host family program, our students have the opportunity to acquaint themselves with a completely new culture right from the beginning of their stay in Berlin.
Finally, as part of our service to students, we advise you on how to make the necessary preparations for your time in Berlin. As part of our service we help you with the formalities – such as complying with the authorities, setting up a bank account, registering with a doctor, taking out insurance etc. We also help you to find your way around the German education system if you wish to apply for study at a university or college. Studying German will provide you with a good foundation for studying in Germany in the future.
The German department offers year-round university orientation and application service. German courses start every month at every level. Exam preparation and coaching for entrance to German universities. Organized tours for students of university cities in Germany. Other departments offer specialist seminars on themes such as technology, environment, economy and business, sustainable development and solar energy, social work, architecture and design in Germany.
We also offer a full range of services to companies and individuals involved in international relations, exchange and business, including intercultural management consultancy, inter-cultural training seminars, culture evenings, culture-shock and orientation programs, interpreting and translation services and language courses for most western and oriental languages and dialects. For foreign students we offer a full support service and a host family program which accompanies the intensive language training.
We look forward to meeting you here in the institute soon!

I read German Studies, History and Sinology (Chinese Studies) at university. As part of my Chinese studies I lived in the Peoples’ Republic of China from September 1991 until February 1994, on a grant from the DAAD. During this time I studied Chinese language and literature at Beijing University, and taught German at the Goethe-Institute in Beijing. Whilst majoring in Chinese studies I participated in a research project at the Free University (FU) of Berlin, looking at the Republican period in China (1911-1949).
In addition I was a student assistant in the East-Asian Seminar Library at the FU from 1995 to ’98 and worked occasionally in the vacations as a tour guide in the PRC and in Hong Kong. I have been working as Director of Studies and German Teacher at our Language-Institute since January 1999. In addition to my teaching work, I am also responsible for coordinating the courses and the teaching team, as well as taking part in designing and undertaking various projects in the Institute.

I studied Sinology and German Studies, and I have been teaching German as a Foreign Language since 1990 at various language schools in Germany. I have many years’ experience of teaching at all levels. I have taught at elementary, intermediate and advanced level, and have prepared foreign learners for the various language examinations (ZDaF, ZMP, DSH, KDS). In 1991 I worked as a German teacher in Anhui University in Hefei (PR China). Here, one of my responsibilities was to prepare students for the ZDaF examination. Since 1999 I have been working as GFL (German as a Foreign Language) teacher at our Language-Institute, where, alongside intensive teaching work, I am particularly involved in developing teaching materials.
