Courses have been designed to cover simple techniques that provide impressive feedback to participants. No special art skills, or equipment is needed, so that techniques that are learned can be continued and built upon at home.

"Field trip" Contemporary landscape painting (2 days). Discover the magical properties of paint. How it can be thick or thin,transparent or opaque.Mixed with other materials to add texture etc. Combine this with exciting brush work and mark making and you are equipped to respond to the natural world around you. Not through merely copying what you see, but responding actively to the forever changing, light, moodiness, texture, patterns and rhythms of nature. The results will delight you!

Faculty Information:
Pauline Agnew is a graduate of the National College of Art and Design (1994) Dublin, and the Dublin Institute of Technology (1998), where she obtained a Degree in Fine Art, and a Masters in Multimedia, respectively. A practicing mixed-media artist and art teacher, she has exhibited her work in Ireland and Europe. "My teaching style is firmly rooted in the knowledge that the act of creating helps us to feel more alive. It is also a delightful outlet for play, a break from the seriousness of life. Enabling creative energies to emerge is something I love doing. I get great pleasure from the sense of achievement that my students feel when they have created something that they felt was beyond their capabilities, or hadn't previously imagined." Pauline Agnew

Other Activities:
Golf, horse-riding, hill climbing, sailing, windsurfing, are all activities that are all nearby and may be of interest to non participating partners or friends of art course attendees.

Facility Information:
Seedbed studio is situated in a tranquil, and pretty, rural, West Cork location, within easy reach of Cork city and airport (40 minutes) and the picturesque towns of Clonakilty (15 minutes drive) and Bandon (15 minutes drive). Housed in a spacious, converted stables, the studio has lots of natural light, lovely views, and for winter weekends, under-floor heating. Groups of up to ten students can be facilitated with ease.
