Our College is located in the beautiful seaside city of Powell River, BC. The school's location ensures that everything you learn in a classroom will be used in "real" life. The city is almost completely English speaking. The College offers Academic programs, International Business programs, test preparation programs such as IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC and Cambridge, vocational programs such as the Professional Scuba Instructor Program, Work and Study programs and vacation programs such as Summer and Winter camps.
The College is a Cambridge test center and you can prepare and take your Cambridge exams right here. We are also a TOEFL/TOEIC test center and those exams are offered monthly here at the college.
Our Work and Study program allows you to increase your fluency in our International Business program and then to work (with pay) in a variety of industries in Canada. A job placement is guaranteed!
Our Professional Scuba Instructor Course gives you the training you need to be an Instructor. You can work, travel and dive around the world! You will be in demand and job placement assistance is given.
The Vacation English Programs let you combine your holiday with studying English. You will experience the great outdoors of the West Coast of BC while practicing English. Join us and have the experience of a lifetime!
Faculty Information:
All of the teachers at our College are highly trained and experienced in teaching ESL. All have taught both in Canada and abroad in places like China, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Argentina and Brazil. Our teachers regularly review the curriculum to make sure it is relevant and interesting for the students. Our focus is on listening, speaking and communication. You will quickly increase your fluency! We also have experts in other fields such as Scuba diving. We have a SDI Instructor Trainer and a PADI Staff Instructor who can help you with your career as a scuba instructor.
Other Activities:
Activities are scheduled everyday after classes. Our activity coordinator organizes and transports the students to their chosen activity. There is also a weekly conversation club with members of the community. We also offer weekend excursions to many exciting destinations such as Tofino, Nanaimo, Victoria, Vancouver, Mt. Washington, and many other places. We offer skiing, surfing, rock climbing, sightseeing or just shopping in many of these locations.
Facility Information:
The College is located in the heart of Powell River. We are next to the central bus stop, the shopping mall, shops, restaurants, coffee shops and other services. We are within walking distance of almost everything in the city. If you prefer the bus, however, then that is much more reasonable than in most other cities. Our cost of living is very low. You will save a lot more money than you would in the larger cities.
We have over 6000 square feet which includes 6 large, bright classrooms fully equipped with TV's, VCR's, DVD players, etc., 2 huge student lounges with TV's, pool tables, ping-pong tables, air hockey etc., kitchen with coffee, microwaves, refrigerator, sink, etc., a large computer lounge, library, daily activities, and wireless internet throughout.
