Our one-day sessions give you all you need to start white water canoeing. Front ferrying, back ferrying, back paddling, pry’s, draws, braces, front eddies, back eddies - you will learn them all, plus some simple theory.
We start with calm water skills at Lac Monroe at 9:30 a.m. and graduate to a set of short rapids below the lake. Emphasis is placed on reading rapids, front and back ferrying, eddying in and out, communicating with your partner and canoe safety with time to practice the skills. Canoes, paddles, lifejackets, knee pads and a lunch are provided. The session usually ends around 4:00 p.m. Maximum 6 persons (3 canoes) per session. Bring a change of clothes.
The language of instruction is English. Scheduled dates are May 24, 21, 25, 31, June 1 or choose your own dates and bring 3 others with you.
Faculty Information:
Bill Pollock, a retired forest engineer, has been teaching whitewater canoeing for over 40 years. He is a certified tripping guide and owner of Tuckamor Trips that offers multi-day wilderness trips in Canada by canoe, on foot and on cross-country skis.
Other Activities:
Swimming. There are many hiking and mountain biking trails and canoe routes in the Park and one can also ride the chair lifts to the top of Mont Tremblant.
Facility Information:
Training starts on Lac Monroe in Mont Tremblant Park in Quebec. The Centre at Lac Monroe has a lunch counter/snack bar, meeting space and convenience store.
